One outdoor unit serves many indoor units, and it varies the refrigerant flow to match each room. Scroll to open it up.
- Fan and grille
The fan pulls outdoor air across the coil. Inverter-driven fans slow down when the building needs less cooling.
- Heat exchanger coil
Refrigerant gives up its heat to the outdoor air here. A large coil is what keeps efficiency high at part load.
- Compressor and refrigerant circuit
The compressor circulates refrigerant to every indoor unit and adjusts its speed to the load. This is the VRF idea in one part.
